Sugar and spice, and all things nice …

… that’s what little girls are made of!

I went to a christening today for a little girl so I wanted to make a super cute card.  I decided to make a card in the shape of a christening gown as I had seen some different shaped cards on Pinterest for onesies, overalls, dresses etc and thought that it might work for this.

Here is the end result …

Christening Dress Card copy

So what do you think?  Is it super cute?  The parents loved it!

It is actually a lot easier to make than you would think.  It is an A4 sheet of Whisper White cardstock cut in half lengthwise and then scored and folded in half so that the fold is at the top.  I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the neck hole and then my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut in from both sides. This was 1.5 inches down from the top and 1 inch in.  Then just use the trimmer to cut from the inside of each cut (under the arm) to the bottom corner on both sides.  And there you have it, the christening gown shape!

To make the spots on the bottom part of the dress, I cut another piece of Whisper White cardstock the same shape as the skirt and ran it through my Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine using the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder which you can get for free until the end of this month when you spend $90 on Stampin’ Up!® products.

I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch for the trim on the sleeves and bottom of the dress and the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack for the flowers around the neckline.  Add some Pearl Basic Jewels in the centre of these little flowers to add that little bit extra.

I finished it off with some ribbon and a flower I made using the new Spiral Flower Originals Die from the Occasions Catalogue.  Want to know more about the flowers you make from this new product?  Keep posted and I will talk about this in an upcoming blog, or if you want to know more now, please email me at stampinstrazds@gmail.com or phone 0408 448 426.  Mother’s Day isn’t too far away and this would look great on a card for your mum.
