CTC406 – Mountains of Thanks

Did this week fly by for you, or was it just me? Back to school, work and every day life is such a juggle sometimes. Well, here we are again on a Sunday evening with another CASEing the Catty Challenge. As Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, this week’s challenge is to case a Valentine’s or love project from either catalogue.

I decided to case the “love you” card in the image below which can be found on page 27 of the 2022-2023 Annual Catalogue. I liked how the image was cut into panels, so I decided to take this technique and use it for my card.

I started with a Basic White card base. I then took a sheet from the Enjoy the Journey DSP and cut this into 6 equal pieces. Using the Greatest Journey Dies, I cut out the mountain and person in Basic Black card stock, and the clouds in Basic White card stock. The sentiment comes from the Greatest Journey stamp set and was heat embossed in White Embossing Powder on Garden Green before being cut out with the Stitched Rectangle Dies.

While I had this bundle and DSP out, I decided to make another card. This time I started with a Highland Heather card base and then added a different piece of DSP from the Enjoy the Journey DSP. I stamped the stars at the top in White Craft ink to add a bit more to the DSP. I also stamped the trees in Starry Sky ink onto Highland Heather card stock before cutting them out with the Greatest Journey Dies and stuck this to the bottom of the scene to give a little more depth. After adding the moon and cloud which also comes from the dies, and the sentiment, the card was done. I was originally going to cut the background into pieces like the previous card, however as it came together, I decided to keep it as it was.

Next up on this week’s hop is my fellow SA demo, Tina, with her case of a love / Valentine’s Day card.

Do you make cards for Valentine’s Day? We’ve never been one to celebrate Valentine’s Day so I haven’t really made any which is why I changed the occasion. We’d love for you to join in this week’s challenge & share your creation on our Facebook page.

Until next time, happy stamping

Michelle

  1. Two fabulous cards, I love the point of difference of the first with the separate sections, although both are gorgeous.

  2. I love the cut up panels for the card – this looks fantastic!! I think I’d love to case your brilliant idea!
