Well here we are for another Sunday evening and another CASEing the Catty Challenge. I nearly didn’t make it this evening and am down to the last minutes before the blog is due to go live. Normally I have my card made by Friday at the latest and blog all written and finished by Saturday or Sunday morning at the very latest. Not today. This weekend didn’t go according to plan with our fridge/freezer dying yesterday, meaning we had to make a last minute trip to the shops to buy a new one (and believe me there is limited stock around everywhere at the moment with trouble getting them in from overseas), then having to try and save whatever food we could in the fridge & freezer and rearrange a lot of things. As the fruit from our fruit trees that I had frozen for later in the year had defrosted, I have then ended up making apricot, strawberry and cherry jams today, which I didn’t have time for. The last batch is on as I type this. A few other things also didn’t go to plan, but the main thing is that I am here and it was all completed just in time.
This week we are casing the Sale-a-bration catalogue again, and the good news is that due to delays in some of the SAB items getting to the South Pacific, SAB has been extended by just over 2 weeks to give you more time to get freebies with every $90 spend. After another flip through the SAB catalogue, I ended up choosing the same page as last time, however this time I chose the Catching Butterflies card on the far left of the image below.
As soon as I saw this stamp set in the SAB catalogue I had this idea in my head and finally got a chance to make it and share it with you. I combined the Catching Butterflies stamp set with the Give It a Whirl Dies (which I haven’t actually used yet – shame on me). The background is a sheet from the New Horizons DSP which I cut the front template out of. I stamped the girl with the butterfly net twice, once on white cardstock and the other with Stazon ink on a window sheet. I then used a craft knife to cut the inside of the net out and put the window sheet stamped net behind it.
On the wheel section I stamped 3 lots of butterflies and coloured them in with different coloured Blends™. As you spin the wheel it looks like the little girl is catching the different butterflies. I added a few butterflies outside the net also and the sentiment at the bottom and the card was done. Below you can see a video of the wheel spinning and the butterflies moving. (Please excuse the background noise in the video. The winter olympics were on in the background and I didn’t have time to re-do it).
Next up is Judy with her CASE of the SAB catalogue. Keep hopping around to see all of the design team’s creations for this week. You might just see something that you must have, and now you’ve got some more time to get it for free.
We would love to see your creation you come up with from CASEing the SAB catalogue. Please add a photo to our Facebook page.
Well I got it finished just in time. Our new fridge should be arriving tomorrow and I will then have to go shopping and sort things out. Hoping nothing else gets thrown my way this week and I can be organised well ahead of time for next week’s hop. Have a great week.
Until next time, happy stamping
