CTC353 – It’s SAB time!

Welcome to another week of Caseing the Catty and welcome to 2022! You may have noticed that I have been MIA for the past 5 weeks or so. I took some time away from cardmaking as I travelled interstate to spend time with my extended family over the Christmas/New Year period as it had been about 18 months since we had last visited due to our trip being cancelled last Christmas thanks to Covid. It was great to be able to go this time and catch up with everyone that we could. Due to Covid, we kept away from anything indoors and mainly only caught up with immediate family and took the kids to the park to kick a ball or throw a frisbee, trying to reduce the risk of catching Covid while in Sydney (which we succeeded in doing). We then were able to spend a week holiday, just the 4 of us, which the kids enjoyed thoroughly. It was well worth the wait after planning and re-planning over the past 2 years.

This week we are casing the SAB catalogue. After having not picked up a stamp, ink pad or cardstock in well over a month, I was a bit unsure as to where to start this week. So I turned to the Sale-a-bration Catalogue and had a flip through. Then I went to my big brown box (which arrived just before we went away and still hadn’t been opened) and had a look through what I’d purchased. I ended up deciding on using some products from the January – June 2022 Mini Catalogue, but casing a card from the SAB catalogue. Oh actually, I did use one stamp from the SAB catalogue!

I cased the yellow & pink butterfly card in the image above which is on page 6 of the SAB catalogue. I’m still waiting on getting this stamp set as it was delayed getting to Australia due to shipping delays so I decided to use the Friends of the Forest stamp set instead. I kept the layout similar, however turned it into a standard A6 card.

I started with a Mint Macaron card base. For the inked panel I used the Blending Brushes with Soft Sea Foam, Mint Macaron & Soft Succulent inks and then randomly stamped the 3 animals/bird in Memento Ink over the panel. The sentiment comes from the SAB stamp set Special Moments and cut out using the Tasteful Labels Dies. The sentiment is on Soft Sea Foam cardstock.

So I managed to complete my first card for 2022. Now to find some time to play with some of the other new goodies that are still sitting in the box.

Next up is my fellow South Aussie, Tina, with her Sale-a-bration case for this week. Make sure you keep hopping around to see all of the design team’s creations.

Whether you have any of the SAB items yet or not, you can still join in this week’s challenge. As you can see I didn’t base my card around the SAB items but used the technique & layout of the card to make my version. We’d love to see what you come up with so please share a photo of your creation on our Facebook page.

Until next time, happy stamping

Michelle

  1. So pleased you managed to catch up with family and sounds like you all had an amazing holiday. Special times.
I love your choice of stamp set for this card. They are so cute and remind me of a baby’s onesie. Too cute!
