CTC318 – Case a Die Bundle

Well it’s Sunday night and time for another CASEing the Catty Challenge and I’m right down to the wire this week. Normally I have my card and blog done by Friday night all ready to go on Sunday, but not this week. Life has been a bit crazy and I didn’t even make my cards until last night and here I am starting to write my blog with 30mins until it goes live. Will I get it finished in time?

This week we are casing a Die Bundle from the Mini Catalogue. There are a number of projects to choose from and I ended up deciding on two cards to take my inspiration from and combine them into one card. I loved the bold sentiment and how it was in two different fonts on the “Love You” card that you can see on the left of the image below and that the background on the purple card in the middle of the image below that used the masks to create the background. So these were the main elements I took from these two projects and put into my cards.

In my card I’m showcasing one of the new decorative masks from the Plenty of Patterns Decorative Masks from the new Annual Catalogue. I used my blending brushes along with So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody and Pumpkin Pie inks to create the ombre background of my card. I wanted to keep this the main feature of my card so I added the sentiment in black ink from the Biggest Wish stamp set (which has the 2 different fonts similar to my inspiration card) and a few of the diamond shaped embellishments from the Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials.

After making this card, I decided to make a second card using one of the other masks in the pack. This time I used Mint Macaron, Just Jade and Shaded Spruce with my Blending Brushes to create the background. The sentiment also comes from the Biggest Wish stamp set which I heat embossed with White Embossing Powder and cut out using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.

Which mask is your favourite? Is the card that used that mask your favourite card too? There is another particular mask in this pack that I will be using in the coming weeks for my daughter’s birthday card so make sure you check back to see that one. Masks are a great way to create an impact on your cards and are very cost effective too.

Next up on the hop is Julia with her lovely gift bag creation. Keep hopping around to see all of the design team’s creations this week.

Why not give this week’s challenge a go? Pick one of the projects in the Die Bundles section, or even two like I did, and use whichever part of the card you like as your inspiration. Technique, colour combination, layout, you pick which part you want to case. Make sure you share your creation on our Facebook page as we’d love to see what you come up with.

Well I just scraped in. Phew! 5mins to spare. I never want to leave it that close again!

Until next time, happy stamping

Michelle
