CTC269 – Farewell to a Piece of Cake

First of all, Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there and especially to my mum.   I hope you have all had a lovely day.  Welcome to another week of CASEing the Catty and the second week of challenge #CTC269 where we are caseing our favourite retiring bundle.  It’s always hard to pick your favourite as there are so many good ones to choose from so I decided to use the Piece of Cake Bundle as it hasn’t seen as much use at it should have.

I cased the green card on page 64 and tamed it down a little keeping it a little bit more simple.

I started with a Crumb Cake card base and stamped the cake and stand image repeated over the front using Versamark ink to create a subtle background.  I then cut out a Blushing Bride layer using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies and then run through the Subtle Embossing Folder to give it a little more texture.

The cake and stand were stamped onto Shimmery White cardstock before being punched out using the Cake Builder Punch.  I coloured the stand in using Smoky Slate Light & Dark Blends™ and the flowers and leaves on the cake were coloured in using Blushing Bride, Rococo Rose & Mint Macaron Stampin’ Write Markers.  I love how you can combine different colouring items in the one creation and they still work so well together.

The sentiment comes from the Timeless Tulips stamp set and was heat embossed using White Embossing Powder before being cut out using the Stitched Rectangle Dies.

Next up is Julia.  Keep hopping around to see all of the design team’s creations and make sure you grab any of these retiring items that you like before they are gone.

We would love to see what you come up with so make sure you add your creation to our Facebook page by clicking the image below and adding it directly to the page. No blog needed, so no excuses not to join in!

Until next time, happy stamping

  1. This is so much cuter than the original. I can’t say I stopped at that project because the background didn’t appeal. Love the elegance to your version and the colour CASEing from the pillowbox. The diecut embossed piece really sets the cake off. Very clever
