Welcome to another week of Social Stamping, hosted by the lovely Kelly Kent. With isolation and social distancing in full swing, it’s lovely to be able to come together and share our creations on a platform like this. This week is Birthdays in Isolation. Who doesn’t love to celebrate their birthday? At the moment we are limited on how we can celebrate, so I decided I wanted to create more than just your standard card. A party in a card! It is also Kelly’s birthday this month, so Happy Birthday Kelly! I hope you have a lovely day.
The Birthday Bonanza Suite was the perfect choice as it’s so fun and happy. I decided to stamp all of the images onto Whisper White cardstock using the colours in the DSP (Terracotta Tile, Grapefruit Grove, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay) before cutting them out with the coordinating dies.
As I decided to make a Tri Fold Card, I cut a piece of A4 Grapefruit Grove cardstock lengthways at 14.8cm and then scored on the long side at 9.9cm and 19.8cm before trimming a mm or two from the end panel so it folded in flat.
After attaching a piece of DSP from the Birthday Bonanza DSP to the front panel, I cut the Scalloped Circle from the Layering Circles Dies out of the Centre.
On the middle flap, I added the balloon DSP from the same DSP pack and then lined up a smaller circle die from the Layering Circles Dies to be in the centre of the scallop when the card is closed.
The sentiment was heat embossed with White Embossing Powder before being cut out using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I was careful with my placement of elements so that you couldn’t see them through the hole from the previous level.
So the centre of my card is where the party is happening! I started by sticking the lion in first so that he was the focal point when the card was closed. A pile of presents, the party streamers and koala and toucan friends were then added with careful placement so they couldn’t be seen through the centre hole.
I hope you enjoyed this fun card and I hope the person receiving it will enjoy their party in a card!
Sorry it’s not the best video as I was trying to do it one handed, but hope it gives you a better full picture of the card. Next up is Julia.
If you get lost along the way, click on the image below and it will take you to the full line up of participants as you don’t want to miss any of these Birthdays in Isolation creations.
Until next time, happy stamping
Michelle
