Welcome to another week of CASEing the Catty. This week we have a one week challenge where we are CASEing the colours from the Ornate Garden Suite. This Suite is an early release from the upcoming 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue. The colours in this DSP are Early Espresso, Mint Macaron, Old Olive, Terracotta Tile, Whisper White and … Bumblebee!!!! Bumblebee will be one of the new In Colours for 2020-2022 and as we don’t have access to this colour yet, you can substitute this with another yellow. I decided to use Crushed Curry for my yellow.
I decided that for my card I wasn’t going to use flowers and moved as far away from the Ornate Garden theme as possible. I first stamped the Turtle from the Back on Your Feet stamp set and the Giraffe & branch from the Animal Outing stamp set in Black Memento Ink on scrap Whisper White cardstock. I coloured the Turtle in with Old Olive Blends™ and the Giraffe in with Crushed Curry & Early Espresso Watercolour Pencils and Blender pen. The Lion comes from the Bonanza Buddies stamp set and I stamped this in Crushed Curry and Terracotta Tile.
At this point I had used all of the colours except for Mint Macaron. I decided that I would get a mat of Whisper White cardstock and run it through the Bricks & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder after cutting 3 holes using the Layering Circles dies in 3 different sizes for the animals to poke their heads out through.
Behind each of these circles, I then cut a circle the next size up and used a sponge dauber with Crushed Curry, Mint Macaron & Terracotta Tile to lightly colour these before placing them behind the hole openings.
The sentiment comes from the Label Me Bold stamp set.
Don’t you hate it when you have almost finished a card and then something doesn’t quite go right! As I was adhering the Bricks & Mortar piece, some of the tombow glue touched the Crushed Curry coloured background and has created a slightly brighter yellow in one section. I decided to leave it as it was and hopefully it isn’t too noticeable.
Next up is Tina. Make sure you keep hopping around full circle to check out all of the design team’s creations using these colours.
We’d love to see what you come up with using these colours, so please add a photo of your creation to our Facebook page. No blog needed to join in! Have a great week.
Until next time, happy stamping
Michelle
What an awesome card! Love the brick wall with the peek-a -boo windows for those fabulous animals! Love this.
I love your animal card!! Such lovely colouring of the animals, especially that cute turtle.
This is so cute, the Lion really looks like he is looking at the turtle with a “what are you doing?” kind of look!
Such a fun, adorable card! I love all the windows for the different animals – so cute!
What a cute card! I thought the darker bit of yellow was done on purpose to add dimension and movement!
