CTC265 – Meerkat Experience

Whether you have hopped on over from Siobhan’s creation or are starting here with me, welcome to the second week of CTC265 where we are CASEing the 2nd Release Sale-A-Bration Catalogue.

With everything going on in the world at the moment, it’s great to get some relief from it all by having some down time to create. Even if we aren’t able to go out, we can always craft!  And as like most demonstrators and also customers, I have a lot of supplies which I’m sure will keep me going for quite a while.  You can use the time to create a fancy fold card you might have been wanting to try but haven’t found the time, watch some videos on Youtube to get more ideas, techniques and folds.  Let’s make the most of this time!

Please let me know if I can help with anything.

I decided to CASE the Well Dressed card on page 6 for my card this week.   I absolutely love The Gang’s All Meer stamp set from the first release so decided to use this to create my card as it has multiple images that I could use on the smaller panels.

For Christmas we gave my mother-in-law a Meerkat Experience at Monarto Safari Park as Meerkats are her favourite animal.  She gets to go into the enclosure with the meerkats and feed them.  They will probably run over her too.  I hope she really enjoys the experience.  She is booked in to do this next Sunday so I’m hoping that it doesn’t get cancelled as she’s really  looking forward to it.  I decided to make her a card to mark the occasion as she always keeps the cards I make for her.

This is what I came up with …

I started with a Crumb Cake card base and then cut another mat in Crumb Cake which I ran through the Stone 3D Embossing Folder, which is available for free (in a bundle) during SAB, and then used some Soft Suede and Crumb Cake ink with a sponge dauber to rub over the top to make it stand out a little more.

I stamped all of the various images in Black Memento Ink and then coloured them in using my Blends™.  After I had coloured them all in, I cut them out using the Rectangles Stitched Dies of varying sizes and also readjusted some of the sizes to fit the image but cutting it part way, then moving the die and then cutting from the other end.  I was really happy with how it turned out.

As I had some leftover pieces (I’d coloured and cut quite a few images), I decided to make a second card which you can see above.  I used a different layout and created a birthday card.  The sentiment comes from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set and was heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.

I still have some more pieces that I will make another card when I have time.

Next up is Peta with her striking black & gold card.  Make sure you keep hopping around to check out all of the design team’s creations.

Even if you don’t have any of the products from the second release of SAB, you can still create a card using the products you have by CASEing a technique, sketch etc from the 2nd SAB catalogue.  We’d love to see what you come up with so please share your creation on our Facebook page.  You never know, your creation could be selected as the Crew Pick for this fortnight’s challenge.

Until next time, happy stamping

  1. Love both of your cute Meerkat cards, Michelle. They are my favourite animals to watch – hope your MIL gets to enjoy her special event.

  2. OMG a Meerkat experience? I am so up for that. They are my favourite animals as well. My eldest is doing her research project on them and we took a quick trip to the zoo this weekend to visit them. And of course this stamp set is getting a work out for her presentation. Love, love, love both your meerkat creations. Beautiful colouring, so cute in those little stitched rectangles, and the background embossing and inking is fabulous! I’m sure even if your MIL doesn’t get her experience this weekend she will absolutely love it when she does. 🙂 Siobhan.

  3. I love the way you’ve used the inspiration! The embossed background is fabulous behind all those gorgeously coloured and cut images. This is a brilliant idea! And so clever to make lots of extras to add to other cards – very clever planning ahead!! Great card, and a wonderful extension of the experience at the zoo!!!
