Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty. Whether you are hopping on over from Rachel’s beautiful congratulations cards or starting here with me, welcome. This week we are CASEing the Love, Thanks & Support section of the catalogue on pages 72-97. Again there are so many cards to choose from for your inspiration.
I started by looking through all of the pages and narrowed down my options to a few cards and then decided to make a card using a technique on the giraffe card on page 83. I loved how the background was created with different sized rectangles and the combination of some of these being embossed.
I cut the rectangles out of Real Red, Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie and Calypso Coral with the Stitched Rectangles Dies and then ran 3 of the pieces through the Big Shot in the Tufted Embossing Folder. I then layered them onto a Daffodil Delight card base.
I stamped the butterfly image from the Beautiful Day stamp set onto Vellum and then coloured the back side of the Vellum with Real Red, Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight Blends™ to create a stained glass look and layered this onto Whisper White cardstock so the colours stood out a bit more.
I finished the card off with the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Piece of Cake stamp set stamped in Memento Black on Daffodil Delight and cut out with the Stitched Rectangles Dies. The sentiment is actually covering a small amount of ink that smeared onto the vellum and I didn’t want to have to re-do the whole butterfly image and colouring. Don’t you just love how embellishments can cover up any boo boos!
Here is a closer image so you can see some more detail with the stitched rectangles and embossed pieces.
So what has everyone else come up with this week? Make sure you keep hopping around to find out. Next up on the hop is Shannon with her gorgeous scrapbook page of her boys.
With so many images to choose from for your inspiration this week, you have no excuse not to join in with the challenge! We’d love to see what you have come up with so please share it on our Facebook page by clicking the image below.
Until next time, happy stamping
