Neutral Lover, Party Pandas

I’m part of the Midnight Inklings team, and this week our team leader posted a challenge for us. Using only the colours from the Neutrals family of colours, create a card.  That’s right, we couldn’t use any other colours on our cards at all!  The challenge seemed easier than it actually was.  Normally there would be at least a small splash of colour on my cards.  Are you a neutral lover?

Here are the colours we could use…

The first stamp set that came to my mind was Party Pandas from the Occasions Catalogue. Seeing as pandas are black and white, I thought this would make it easy, but I wanted to add a bit of colour to the balloon.  I decided to add a little shading with the grey watercolour pencil and a bit of sparkle using the Wink of Stella.

I teamed this up with the “spotty” DSP from the Petal Passion DSP.  The card base is Basic Black and then I layered it with Basic Grey cardstock.  The white splatters on the top section were created by flicking my aqua painter with white craft ink.  The circle that the panda is sitting on is Whisper White cardstock and then sponged with Smoky Slate & Basic Grey inks.

The sentiment, also from the Party Pandas stamp set, was stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed in white.

I didn’t want to leave the inside of the card blank so I added a strip of washi tape from the Pick a Pattern Washi Tape pack.

Which colour is your favourite from the Neutrals family?  Could you make a card using only these colours or would you struggle not being able to add other colours like I did?  Why not give it a go?  I would love to see what you come up with.

Until next time, happy stamping
