For My Friend

This week I decided to join two challenges into one to come up with my card. Once again I have participated in the CASEing the Catty challenge #146 which is CASEing the Season of Glitz section of the Holiday Catalogue on pages 20 – 27.  I have joined this with the #MidnightInklingsteamcolourchallenge1. I’m a part of the Midnight Inklings team so decided to use this also.  This was a colour challenge as you can see below.

The card I CASE’d for the layout was the green santa sweater card which can be found on page 22 of the Holiday Catalogue. I kept the layout and changed pretty much everything else.

Here’s what I came up with …

I have used a Rich Razzleberry card base and stamped this in Versamark using the Timeless Textures stamp set.  I cut out the square in Basic Black cardstock using the largest square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. “For My Friend” sentiment comes from the Special Celebrations stamp set and was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in White Embossing Powder on Sweet Sugarplum cardstock.

For the dragonfly, I started with Whisper White cardstock and used sponge daubers to sponge Rich Razzleberry, Sweet Sugarplum, Soft Sky and Lost Lagoon (retired) over the cardstock. Once this was done, I cut the dragonfly out using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits. The fine tip glue pen comes in handy to attach the dragonfly onto the card or you could try applying the adhesive sheets to the back of the cardstock before cutting the dragonfly out.

I have then stuck a few rhinestones onto the card to finish it off.

You may have noticed that I didn’t use the last colour on the challenge.  I tried to include the Old Olive colour but I couldn’t really get it to work, so decided to leave it out.  How would you have incorporated Old Olive into the card?  Would you have chosen the same colours as me to match those in the picture for the challenge.

Until next time, happy stamping

Michelle
