I’m not 60 years old …

Well, my step-dad is turning 60, but doesn’t like to admit that he is turning that age, so rather than having a 60th birthday party, he is having a 30/30 party.

So what kind of card do you make for a 30/30 party?

After some thought I came up with the idea of using the Circle Card Thinlit Die.  I ended up making the extended version so that it had an extra flap.

Here is what the front of the card ended up looking like …

And then when you open the front of the card with the circle flip part, you then have this…

So that covered the 30/30 part.

The stamp set I used to create the spiral effect is the Spiral Spins set from the Occasions Catalogue. It is available for $18.95 in clear mount or $23.95 in wood mount.  I used a combination of Melon Mambo, Smoky Slate and Basic Black ink pads on Whisper White cardstock.

This section is the extended flap that I added to the flip card.  This can be done by allowing the additional cardstock to sit above the die, rather than under it where it would normally cut it.  It creates a score line to assist in folding it.

Once you open this flap it shows you the area that you write your message and also a page wishing a happy 60th birthday.  After all, it is his 60th birthday and I’m not letting him get away without wishing him that!

So what do you think?  Do you think I got the whole idea of the 30/30 party across while wishing him a Happy 60th Birthday?  I was pretty happy with the result and hope he likes it just as much when I give it to him at his party tonight.

The great thing about the Thinlit Card Dies is that not only do you get the Label or Circle die to create the flip card, it also comes with extra die pieces that you can us on different projects without it having to be the flip card.  It makes it so versatile.  In this card I used the banner, scallop, star and chevron additional dies that came with the Circle Thinlit Card Die.

Check out the flyer below to see all of the additional dies you get with the Circle or Label Thinlit Card Dies.
